Financing Your Education

Education is one of the most important, and possibly the first, big investment of your life. Spend some time researching scholarships as they can be a big factor in financing your years at college. If you enrolled in classes at Doane College prior to Fall 2014, then please use the following document to determine your academic scholarship requirements. Federal Direct PLUS (Parent) Loan Varies (Up to Cost of Attendance)

Parents who do not have adverse credit history may borrow for their dependent student. Applications are approved by the Federal Direct Loan Origination Center based on a credit check.

Apply for the FAFSA and complete Direct PLUS Loan Request and Master Promissory Note here

Begins after the loan is fully disbursed. Deferment options are available. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for further information.

Federal Direct Subsidized & Unsubsidized Stafford Loans Determined by FAFSA and grade level.

Subsidized Stafford loans are available to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled at least half-time.

Federal Pell Grant Maximum Award $5,550

Awarded to undergraduate students with exceptional financial need.

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Federal Perkins Loans Dependent on need.

Students must demonstrate exceptional financial need. Available funding is limited.

RepaymentBegins 9 months after graduating, dropping below half-time or withdrawing from school.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) Maximum Award $2,500

Awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s degree and demonstrate exceptional financial need (Pell Grant eligible). Funding is limited.

GE-Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

To be eligible for this award, applicants must:

Qualified candidates may apply online starting October 13, 2014 through January 8, 2015 or until 25,000 applications are submitted, whichever comes first.

Renewable for up to an additional three years for a total of $40,000.
