Financing Your Education

Education is one of the most important, and possibly the first, big investment of your life. Spend some time researching scholarships as they can be a big factor in financing your years at college.

Your academic scholarship amount and GPA maintenance requirements are tied to the semester you started at Doane.

Federal Direct Subsidized & Unsubsidized Stafford Loans Determined by FAFSA and grade level.

Subsidized Stafford loans are available to undergraduate students who demonstrate financial need and are enrolled at least half-time.

Federal Perkins Loans Dependent on need.

Students must demonstrate exceptional financial need. Available funding is limited.

RepaymentBegins 9 months after graduating, dropping below half-time or withdrawing from school.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) Maximum Award $3,500

Awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor’s degree and demonstrate exceptional financial need (Pell Grant eligible). Funding is limited.

Apply for the FAFSA.  

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Merrill Scholarship $3,000/yr for students starting during the 2017-18 academic year.

For transfer students. 24+ hours of college credit and 3.0+ cumulative college GPA

Visit Grant Up to $1,000 renewable for four years while at Doane.

Awarded to admitted applicants who complete an official on-campus visit during their senior year.

This grant is renewable for up to eight semesters.

Junior College Graduate Award $12,000/yr for students starting during the 2017-18 academic year.

For transfer students graduating from a two-year college.

Students must remain in good academic standing to renew this award.

Scholarships for Minority Students

Many different types of scholarships are available to minorities, LGBTQ, and women.

Nebraska Opportunity Grant (NOG) Maximum Award $3,000

Nebraska resident who demonstrates high need. Limited availability.

Eligible recipient names are submitted to the State of Nebraska's Coordinating Commission of Post-Secondary Education pending approval.

2 full-time semesters or 4 full-time terms per academic year

Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship

Nebraska Business Hall of Fame Scholarship $2,000

This $2000 scholarship will be awarded to a full-time sophomore or junior college student (to be used for their junior or senior year of study) enrolled in a Nebraska accredited Business school.
