FAQ

Everyone has questions. We just pulled together a few of the frequently asked ones here for you to search. Let us know if you need any additional assistance. We'd be glad to help.

Can I take summer school?

Summer school courses are available at the Doane College - Lincoln or Grand Island campus and through other institutions.  The Doane Lincoln & Grand Island Summer Schedule will be available ON LINE after April 16th.  Summer courses need to be approved by the Registrar's Office BEFORE students enroll in those courses.

Do I have to take an interterm?

All full-time degree-seeking students must complete an interterm during their first year.  Students are required to successfully complete three interterms for graduation. Two must be "ITM" prefixed.  The required third and optional fourth interterm may have departmental prefixes.  Transfer and pre-professional students should check the catalog for relevant requirements.

How do I log into WebAdvisor?

Along the top of WebAdvisor is a LOG-IN tab to select.  At that point it gives you directions on how to log-in.

How do I make a preferred section list?

Watch the step by step guide online at Preferred Sections List or follow the instructions below.

  1. Go to Doane WebAdvisor: http://www.doane.edu/wa and Log In

  2. Your User Name and Password are the same as your Doane e-mail account.

  3. Select Students

  4. Under the Registration section of the menu; select Register for Sections, and Search and register for sections.

  5. For registration select the future Crete term from the Term drop-down menu, and the subject of the class you want to register for. You may also narrow your search further by selecting course levels, course numbers, and sections (...these fields are optional). You may also select multiple subjects to increase your search results or search by meeting time, days of the week, course title and instructor name.

  6. Select the section you want by checking the box in the "Select Sections(s)" column. You can select an unlimited number of sections for a term. There is no conflict checking on the preferred sections list. However, once you have added a section to your preferred sections list, it can only be removed by your advisor. When you have selected all of the sections you wish to take, click "SUBMIT".

  7. You have now created a list of preferred sections that you and your advisor can review when you meet for your appointment. At this point you ARE NOT REGISTERED for Fall, Interterm or Spring. Your advisor will move preferred sections to your schedules.

I forgot to formally register now what do I do?

Contact your advisor immediately to see if your courses are still available.

I found a great course but its full, what can I do?

he/she can add him/herself to the course waitlist.

NEW:  For Spring and Fall, students ranking on the waitlist will be based on a point system.  Students who are graduating within the next year will receive 5 points, seniors 4 points, juniors 3 points, and sophomores 2 points.  The more points you have the higher you are on the waitlist.  Therefore the spot you are on the waitlist could occasionally change based on the students (and their points) who get on the waitlist after you.

I will be studying abroad next semester. What do I need to do?

Visit the Registrar's office.  They will enroll you in an Off Campus course.

I'll be a junior after I complete this semester. Can I register for next semester prior to the date associated with my class level?

No, WebAdvisor scheduling will be done BY CLASS LEVEL  according to the number of credits students have earned up to this point in time.
You are currently a sophomore.

I'm considering an internship, how do I do that?

Start by contacting Career Development.  Remember that CED 205, Intro. to Field Experience, is a prerequisite for an internship experience.  During Interterm, internships are available for three (3) credits only.  Interterm internships have a departmental prefix, or ITM prefix.  ITM prefixed internships DO count as ITM courses.

I'm graduating in May. Is there anything I should be doing now? Am I taking all the classes required to graduate?

Once you're registered for Spring, you can make an appointment (patty.stehlik@doane.edu or call 6745) to meet with Denise or Barb in the Registrar's office, for approximately 10 minutes, to complete an exit survey, a graduation application, and review your program evaluation.
