David Swartzlander, the Journalism Department chairman, is an assistant professor of journalism and the adviser to the student newspaper, The Doane Owl; the 1014 Magazine; and the student news website, The Doaneline. He teaches Basic News Writing and Reporting, Beat Reporting, Editing and Design and Multiplatform Journalism.
