The corner of 12
th and Boswell is looking a lot more inviting in August - and so does the inside of Smith Hall, too. On February 25, the Board of Trustees authorized the college to complete the renovation of Smith Hall. Students were heavily involved in the design process, as they were with the Frees and Sheldon Hall renovations the last two years.
Outdoor and indoor spaces were renovated at Smith, designed to provide a range of exciting spaces for student life activities. On the south end of the building, a large stone patio courtyard was constructed, complete with seating, outdoor grill and fireplace.
Inside the renovations are a little more dramatic. The roof came off to create a new complete fourth floor, adding an additional 12 double rooms and another lounge area. A gaming room, club lounge and kitchen are housed on the ground floor. A new business center, lounge, study room, as well as new flooring, paint, furniture and bathrooms were all on the agenda.
The renovation project was completed before students returned in August.
