A social science major allows you to teach any course within social studies subjects in any 7-12 school in Nebraska, as well as in most other states. The major, also a teaching endorsement, is comprised of courses including sociology, economics, political science, history, geography and psychology.
Students not seeking to be certified to teach in secondary schools with a social science major generally continue by enrolling in a graduate school program in their area of interest.
A political science major studies the use of authority and influence in society within legal, political, human and governmental contexts. This flexible program is designed to:
Do you want to look inside an atom, visualize the sound of a trumpet, or gaze on a supernova? Do you want to design a rocket engine that sends people into outer space or program a computer to simulate life? These are just a few of the things a physics major might do.
We offer both a physics major and minor. Our curriculum emphasizes doing science, not just learning about science, so all courses give students the opportunity to work on experimental and theoretical projects. Many opportunities also exist to work with faculty on research projects while at Doane.
