Early Childhood Endorsement

An early childhood endorsement will prepare you to teach students ranging in ages from infancy through grade three.  

Early Childhood Teachers:

  • promote school readiness
  • improve learning outcomes of young children
  • assist with children's language and literacy skills to prevent them from reading difficulties when they enter school

Biology Teaching Endorsement - Undergraduate

All secondary and K-12 education students earn a content major in their endorsement area.   

Students seeking certification for teaching in Biology must complete the endorsement requirements as outlined in the catalog.  This includes classes listed in the Secondary Education section.

Pre-Medical, Dental and Allied Health

Doane graduates complete their professional education in these health programs at institutions across the United States, such as at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Vanderbilt University in Tennessee, Washington University in Missouri, the University of Chicago, and Northwestern University in Illinois.

Pre-Veterinary Medicine

Many students are interested in veterinary science, and Doane offers all pre-veterinary requirements for area veterinary schools and most universities nationwide. Students generally major in biology at Doane and then enroll at a professional school following graduation.

Pre-Ministry

The best preparation for a career in the Christian ministry is a four-year liberal arts course preparatory to graduate work at a seminary. Students interested in religious education or missionary work, as well as pre-ministerial students, can also prepare by taking specific courses:

The American Bar Association states that undergraduates can be admitted to law school from almost every academic discipline. 

Students are encouraged to pursue a broad, yet rigorous liberal arts education in areas of study that develop:

Pre-Environmental Studies / Forestry

Pre-Environmental Studies/Forestry

Doane participates in the cooperative college program at Duke University (Durham, N.C.), which includes a 3-2 arrangement. After three years at Doane, students enter the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke for two years. Students then qualify for a bachelor's degree from Doane and a master's degree in either forestry or environmental management.  Environmental science and biology are common majors leading to this career field.

Pre-Engineering

Our pre-professional engineering program, allows you to combine the best aspects of a small college experience with the benefits of a professional engineering degree. Students who complete the program receive a bachelor's degree from Doane College in a major such as mathematics, physics or computer science and a bachelor's of engineering from an accredited engineering school.
