Three of the seven Doane students with their art on display at an Omaha art show have been recognized for their work. The Nebraska Independent College Foundation (NICF), hosting its 11th annual art show at the O’Keefe Elevator Gallery, awarded Lauren Baird ’14 the Best of Show award for her three-dimensional ceramic sculpture/mixed media composition of two children figures looking at each other (pictured below, top left). Baird, an art major with a professional emphasis, also won awards in the three-dimensional category for two more ceramic sculpture/mixed media pieces: her woman and the mirror took first (top right) and her rabbit-inspired display took second (top middle). Kourtney Erickson ’17 earned an honorable mention (furry creature, bottom left), as did Kim Williams ’17 (copper mask, bottom right), for their three-dimensional pieces. Students set up their art during the first week in April and received their honors at an awards reception April 10. The art will remain on display until April 28. Doane is one of eight colleges in the NICF along with Bellevue University, College of Saint Mary, Concordia University, Midland University, Nebraska Wesleyan University, Union College and York College.
