This course focuses on Generally Accepted AuditingyStandards (GAAS), the ethical and legalyresponsibilities of auditing, and auditingyprocedures and sampling techniques. In addition toyfocusing on current ethical issues inyaccounting/auditing, the course includes the studyyof working paper techniques, preparation of audityreports, and evaluation of internal controls.yUpon successful completion of this course,ystudents will: 1)recognize the ethical and legalyimplications of various accounting/auditingysituations in terms of the standards set by theyaccounting profession, 2)analyze, synthesize, andyevaluate various accounting/auditing issues toyform reasoned, logical solutions in light of theyethical and legal considerations, 3)analyzeyprepared financial statements in light of currentyGenerally Accepted Auditing Standards, 4)be ableyto read and understand the precise accountingyterminology used in the field of auditing, andy5)be able to communicate audit findings, bothyorally and in written form to interestedystakeholders. Prerequisites: Senior accountingymajors only, Accounting 232 with a C- or higher.
