The Tiger volleyball team battled hard with the No. 11 ranked team in the NAIA but was not to be as Bellevue University came away with a sweep at the Bronco Invitational in Hastings on Friday evening. Bellevue (7-3) won 25-21, 25-15, 26-24.
Doane (12-3) struggled at times in transition, leading to long rallies that the Bruins came away with the point. At the net offensively, the Tigers were led by Chelsee Marvin (Sr.; Crete, Neb.) and Ivie Speer's (Jr.; Central City, Neb.) nine kills apiece. Terra Andreasen (Fr.; Bellevue, Neb.) and Jessy Livers (Jr.; Lincoln, Neb.) added seven kills each.
Ashley Sluka (Sr.; Milligan, Neb.) led the setters with 16 set assists while Heather Davison (So.; Lincoln, Neb.) added 13 assists.
Emily Schwisow (Jr.; Beatrice, Neb.) posted 26 digs for the Tiger defense. Speer led the defense at the net with four total blocks.
