Diving Stop Denies Tigers

The Tiger men's soccer team gave up two goals in the first half and was unable to break into the win column, falling 2-1 to William Jewell College.

William Jewell received goals from Matt Happy & Austin Williams. The Tigers scored their lone goal on a penalty kick from Devon Strecker.

Doane had an opportunity to tie the game in the final minute but Jordan Schafer's shot attempt was fended off by a diving Kyle Heiman.  Heiman finished with six saves for the Cardinals while Chris Kavinsky had seven saves for Doane.

Doane out-shot William Jewell 26-18, including an 18-11 edge in the second half.

Up Next:
The Tigers will face Avila University on Friday, September 5, in Ottawa, Kan.  The game has been moved from Kansas City because of field conditions.
