The Tiger women's soccer team put up a battle with No. 14 William Jewell College but in the end, WJC was victorious 3-1. The two teams battled through a scoreless first half and in the 53rd minute, the Cardinals struck first with a goal from Danielle Doerfler. Ten minutes later, Taylore Depperman gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead with an unassisted goal.
Doane (1-2) cut the lead in half in the 75th minute when Beth Weiner scored a goal. However, WJC scored an insurance goal in the final two minutes when Annie Shepard broke away from a couple of Tiger defenders and beat Alicia Exstrom for a goal.
Exstrom finished with nine saves in the game. Rebecca Ewing led WJC with six saves. The Cardinals out-shot Doane 23-13.

The Tigers will face Avila University on Friday, September 5, in Ottawa, Kan. The game has been moved from Kansas City because of field conditions.
