The Tiger volleyball team got the season off to a strong start with a four-game victory over Oklahoma City University at the South Padre Tournament in Brownsville, Texas. The game scores were 25-21, 23-25, 25-20, 25-12 as Doane defeated the Stars who are receiving votes in the NAIA poll. Doane put up a strong defensive effort, collecting 64 digs and nine team blocks. Ivie Speer (Jr.; Central City, Neb.) collected seven assists blocks during the match. Lisa Lord (Fr.; Indianola, Neb.) added three assists blocks for the Tigers. Emily Schwisow (Jr.; Beatrice, Neb.) collected a team-high 18 digs.
Offensively, Terra Andreasen (Fr.; Bellevue, Neb.) collected 13 kills on 38 attack attempts. She added three ace serves and 13 digs. Kellie Peterson (Fr.; Ord, Neb.) added 12 kills on 15 attempts. Peterson had two assists, two ace serves and two blocks in the match as well. Speer was strong offensively, notching 11 kills for Doane.
Ashley Sluka (Sr.; Milligan, Neb.) collected a team-high 23 assists while Heather Davison (So.; Lincoln, Neb.) totaled 13 assists.

The Tigers will face host University of Texas-Brownsville at 1:30 PM today. Texas-Brownsville is ranked No. 19 in the NAIA.
