Jayne Wagner scored one of two Tiger goals on Saturday |
The women's soccer team got off to a slow start on Saturday afternoon, allowing three goals in their first half of play, and were unable to overcome the deficit as they fell to Evergreen State College (Wash.), 3-2. The Geoducks scored twice in the first 12 minutes of play but Doane was able to respond with a goal from Samantha Exstrom in the 21st minute to pull the Tigers within a goal at 2-1. However, the Geoducks bounced back with their third goal of the game just two minutes later.
In the second half, the Tiger defense settled down and shutout Evergreen State. Offensively, Jayne Wagner scored her first collegiate goal in the 78th minute of play. Doane, unfortunately, was not able to get another shot on goal the rest of the game and fell to defeat.
Alicia Exstrom finished the game with seven saves in net for the Tigers.
