Doane College 2008 Meagan Bauer was named today to the 2007-08 ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-American Team for track and field/cross country in the college division. Forty-five student-athletes are selected to three teams, 15 per team. Bauer is a repeat honoree to the First Team after graduating in May with a 4.00 grade point average. Only four of the 45 selections in the college division came from an NAIA school. The college division consists of schools from NCAA Divisions II & III, NAIA and junior colleges. Naomi Christensen of Houghton College, New York, joined Bauer as an NAIA selection to the First Team. Four of the 15 recipients on the First Team were from Doane's district, no. 7, and nine of the 15 district recipients were selected to a team for the national honor. Bauer, a native of Gering, Nebraska, was a seven-time NAIA All-American at Doane after winning the pole vault at the NAIA Outdoor National Track & Field meet in late May. She is also a five-time runner-up in the pole vault. She graduated with a 4.00 grade point average in mathematics and secondary education. This past season, she earned All-Conference honors, winning the pole vault during the indoor and outdoor seasons. She holds the school record for both seasons as well. Bauer was a member of Cardinal Key and Sigma Delta Pi while being named to the Dean's List. She was an NAIA & GPAC Scholar-Athlete in 2008 and was named a First Team Academic All-American by ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA in 2007.
