Assessment of Literacy

This course provides an examination of authenticyassessment procedures used in the assessment ofyliteracy in the elementary and middle gradesyclassrooms. Attention is given to the examination,yconstruction, interpretation and use of authenticyassessments for measuring student learning inyreading and writing. Students will also examineythe Nebraska K-12 content reading standards andydevelop assessments appropriate for them. Studentsywill move from theory to practice as they developyan evaluation plan with an emphasis on usingyportfolios and authentic assessment measures inythe classroom. Students may not use both Educationy602 and 645 for completion of the Master ofyEducation degree program.
