Assessment of Literacy
This course provides an examination of authentic assessment procedures used in the assessment of literacy in the elementary and middle grades classrooms. Attention is given to the examination, construction, interpretation and use of authentic assessments for measuring student learning in reading and writing. Students will also examine the Nebraska K-12 content reading standards and develop assessments appropriate for them. Students will move from theory to practice as they develop an evaluation plan with an emphasis on using portfolios and authentic assessment measures in the classroom. Students may not use both Education 602 and 645 for completion of the Master of Education degree program.
