The study of the interplay within the arts and theyrole they play in ideology, politics, propaganda,yand moral issues. Consideration is given to issuesyof patronage, advertising, eroticism andypornography, religion, and the visual images ofypopular culture. Students will be able toyarticulate the role of the visual arts in societyyand relate how images serve and challenge dominantyhuman institutions. Prerequisite: Junior standingyor three previous credits in Art History.
