They had just one day. Yet the impact would last forever.
Three coaches pored over details all day and night to answer what was needed in a new facility for Doane's students. In 1969, Fuhrer Field House was born. More than 30 years later, Bob Erickson '57, Fred Beile and Al Papik '50 are campus legends. Their stories - their impact on students - live on in many alumni.
The Legendary Coaches Campaign seeks to honor and preserve the memory of these outstanding coaches, while continuing their tradition of service to students. Your donations will help expand Fuhrer Field House, resurface Simon Field, and complete the George and Sally Haddix Recreation and Athletic Center-the very places in which these three men shaped their programs and their students.
The Legendary Coaches Campaign is one component of the $18.7 million Sport and Fitness Facilities Project , a plan focused on creating an athletic and fitness experience for students as an integral part of Doane College's liberal arts mission. This project will create multiple venues for discovering lessons and inspiration. To date, nearly $13 million has been raised for the Haddix Recreation and Athletic Center.
