David Swartzlander is a 30-year veteran of journalism and journalism education. His earned an undergraduate journalism degree from Kent State and a master's degree in journalism from the University of Nebraska, where his thesis focused on the early journalistic career of three-time presidential nominee William Jennings Bryan. He has written for six daily newspapers in four states, most recently at the Omaha World-Herald. He served as an Institute for Journalism Excellence fellow and is a graduate of the First Amendment Institute. He recently completed an instructor's manual for a news writing and reporting textbook, "Inside Reporting" by Tim Harrower, published by McGraw-Hill.
