An alumna of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Barbara Clement has been a college educator for 16 years, teaching at Bellevue University for six years before joining the biology faculty at Doane in 1998. Before completing her Ph.D. in 1992 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center, Clement worked as an electron microscopist at the College of Dentistry (UNMC) where she collaborated on research projects with faculty there. She currently holds adjunct associate professor status at the University of Nebraska School of Natural Resources. Barbara took a one-year sabbatical in Germany (2005-06) to work on two-component signal transduction in Myxococcus xanthus at the Max Planck Institute for Terrestrial Microbiology in Marburg, Germany. She is a member of the American Society for Microbiology. Clement also is a quilter and member of the Lincoln Quilters' Guild, serving on the executive board for two years.
