2011-2012 Ride Along Information
Doane Safety Office Ride/Walk Along Program 2011-2012 Ride/Walk Alongs |
| | |
| The Doane Safety Office offers interested individuals the opportunity to ride along with a Safety Administrator (SA) in the field to observe the patrol activities of the campus and immediate surrounding areas; this is known as a “ride-along.” This program is offered to allow currently registered students a better understanding of the functions of a Doane SA and the overall operation of the Safety Office. |
| | |
| Please be aware that all ride-along applicants are subject to a conduct check prior to riding with an SA. |
The ride-along program is an attempt to favorably expose Doane students to Doane Safety Office work.
· Persons wishing to participate in the program will furnish their name and date of birth to a supervisor.
· A supervisor or Director of Campus Safety will make the person requesting a ride-along aware of the limitations imposed while accompanying SA’s on foot or in patrol vehicles.
· After being informed of the risks involved, the person will sign the Release and Assumption of Risk form before being allowed to ride-along.
· No cameras or tape recorders will be allowed, unless previously authorized by the Director of Campus Safety.
· The ride-along arrangement may be canceled or terminated by the SA or Director of Campus Safety at any point.
· If it becomes advisable during the course of the ride-along not to take the person to a particular call the SA will let the person out of the car near their residence hall. A limit of two ride-along experiences will be placed on all participants. Ride-along will be limited to four hours duration except where otherwise authorized by the Director of Campus Safety.
