Concert Band: The all-college Concert Band is open to all students. Auditions for chair placement take place in the fall. The Concert Band rehearses on Tuesday and Thursday from 5:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Performances include two scheduled concerts a semester, important college ceremony functions, and the opportunity to play on the Symphonic Wind Ensemble annual tour. Participation in the Concert Band can be used to partially fulfill the "aesthetic perspective" requirement of the Doane Plan.
Symphonic Wind Ensemble: The premier wind-based ensemble of the college, the Symphonic Wind Ensemble is open to students by audition. Continuing students audition in the spring and new students audition in the fall. Selection is based on these auditions and ensemble instrumentation. Members rehearse four times a week for a total of four and a half hours. Participation in the ensemble can be used for partial fulfillment of the "aesthetic perspective" requirement of the Doane Plan.
The ensemble generally schedules three concerts a semester and performs on an annual tour. Tour locations have included cities like New York and Chicago. The upcoming tour will be located in Washington D.C. around Memorial Day. A significant portion of the tour's costs are paid for by Doane, allowing students to travel at minimal cost. Selected Concert Band members and the Doane Jazz Band often accompany the Symphonic Wind Ensemble on this tour.
Tiger Pep Band: The Tiger Pep band plays for all home football games and a few additional athletic events during the fall semester. It is open to all students. Members attend nine one-hour rehearsals. During the fall of 2006, the pep band will perform at a total of six football games with each game lasting about four hours. Participation in the Tiger Pep Band can be used to partially fulfill the "aesthetic perspective" requirement of the Doane Plan.

Auditions for this premier ensemble are held in the late spring for continuing students, and early fall for first-year students.
