MBTI Assessment

The Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment is the most widely used measure of normal personality. Katharine Briggs and Isabel Briggs Myers developed it in the early 1940s based on the theory of the pioneering Swiss psychologist Carl Jung. The model describes patterns of preferences in four dichotomies of personality type:

  • Information-gathering processes
  • Decision-making processes
  • Orientation of energy and focus of attention
  • Lifestyle and orientation to outer world

Enhance Your Effectiveness
Today the MBTI® assessment is used by managers, educators, and counseling professionals around the world.

Management
Management professionals use the MBTI® assessment in team building to understand work and leadership styles, communication, problem solving, conflict resolution, change and effects of stress.

Education
The MBTI® assessment helps educators understand learning styles and teaching methods, and has applications in discipline, time management, communication, and relationships.

Counseling
Career, family and marriage, and mental health counselors all benefit from the use of the MBTI® assessment. This instrument enhances counselors' self-understanding and understanding of potential effects of type match/mismatch between counselor and client. This helps avoid treating normal differences as pathology, adapting counselor approaches, and facilitating personal growth.
