Doane's Mathematics Faculty members work with students individually to find combinations of courses that will best help students into their choice of career. The Department has special programs in place helping students into careers in engineering, actuarial science, and education. In fact, nearly every year math majors graduate directly into teaching and actuary jobs.
In addition, our math majors find that their Doane education equips them for graduate programs in mathematical sciences like statistics, applied mathematics and mathematics. Several of our graduates have recently started careers as statisticians. Mathematics is a great discipline to pursue in combination with others. Many students not wishing to pursue graduate work will double-major in business or computer science. These students have gone on to careers as insurance underwriters, financial analysts, software engineers, college professors, programmers, accountants, account representatives, and loan officers.
