The
environmental science program at Doane is centered around the core subjects of organismal and environmental biology. Students are required to take courses in zoology, botany, bacteriology, and ecology.

Facilities/Technology
Many courses are held in the $10.2 million Lied Science and Mathematics Building (completed in 1999):
- students have hands-on access to high-tech instruments such as a nuclear magnetic resonance spectrometer, gas chromatograph/mass spectrometer, 80 Olympus microscopes, 15 dissecting microscopes, scanning electron microscope, and laptop computers.
Students study extensively in the field:
- conducting research at Doane's Aldrich Prairie Research Site
- studying and analyzing various ecosystems in the area, including aquatic, forest, prairie, and flood plain sites

Requirements for an Environmental Studies Minor
Complete at least 19 credits of courses under Business, Economics, Environmental Science, and either Biology and Geology or English and Political Science.
