Doane College

Campus Safety

Frees Hall

Doane’s 300-acre Crete campus is beautiful, historic, and ideally located within driving distance of Lincoln. The college remains deeply committed to ensuring the continued security of the Doane campus and community.

The Doane Safety Office was established in 2008 and is responsible for all aspects of safety and security at Doane College.  The office is available to the Doane community 24/7 during all open hours of the academic year.

In addition to the new safety office, Doane College made many upgrades to existing security measures, including:

  • A new mass communication (text/e-mail) system.
  • A new keyless entry system in residence halls, academic buildings, campus weight room and fitness center and a 24-hour computer lab.
  • A new video surveillance system in residence hall and Fuhrer Field house parking lots.
  • New call boxes on residence halls.
  • Three new safety administrators were added to the safety staff.

Everyday campus security measures also include:

  • Locking the facilities at scheduled times.
  • Checking facilities for fire or vandalism.
  • Checking facilities for lights, heat, power outages, and water problems.
  • Monitoring and reporting criminal activity on campus to the police in emergency situations and to the Vice President for Student Leadership.
  • Summoning the Crete police to help with emergency situations.
