WHAT TO BRING Housing assignments will be completed and mailed to you during the summer. Once you receive this, the first thing you should do is call your roommate and coordinate what each of you is going to bring. There is nothing worse than having two refrigerators but no TV or even two of everything. Please note, there is no student storage available on campus.
Major items to coordinate with your roommate(s): - Small refrigerator
- Television
- VCR/DVD
- Phone/Answering Machine
- Stereo/Radio
Items you can't do without: - Power strip/Surge protector (no extension cords allowed!)
- Alarm clock
- Laundry soap/basket/fabric softener/quarters
- Bedding
- Fan (especially if you are in Frees or Smith!)
- Shower tote/towels/shower shoes/shampoo/soap/razor, etc.
- Personal hygiene items
- Message board
- Pictures of friends and family from home
- School supplies (backpack, notebooks, organizer, highlighter, pens, pencils)
- Ramen Noodles/Easy Mac
Items that are absolutely not allowed: - Extension cords
- Microwaves/hot pots/George Foreman Grills/coffee makers
- Pets (only fish allowed)
- Halogen Lamps
- Nails
- Candles/incense/Candle warmers
We have these rules to comply with fire code regulations, keep damage to rooms and fines to students to a minimum, and also to deal with power surge problems. We do not want to jeopardize student's safety, or cause problems to computers operating in any of the rooms in the event of a power failure.
