Hansen Leadership Program

It’s no coincidence that despite widely varying interests, skill sets, and objectives, most Doane graduates build successful futures, developing leadership roles within their communities and organizations. At Doane, leadership isn’t just a concept; it is an outcome achieved by ensuring that leadership development experiences define every aspect of the life of our students. And Doane’s one-of-a-kind Zenon C.R. Hansen Leadership Program is a campus-wide, comprehensive effort that allows students to explore leadership and develop their capabilities of becoming involved and productive civil leaders well before they graduate.

Challenge yourself and develop team leadership skills on an outdoor ropes course. Take the lead in ensuring the successful completion of various community service projects like our nationally recognized Relay for Life event. Interact one-on-one with community leaders, alumni, and faculty mentors through programs such as "Leadershops"/Retreats, or Masters' Series/Faculty-in-Residence. Draw inspiration from high profile visiting speakers who are leaders in every field you can imagine—from Phil Jackson, a nine-time NBA champion coach, to Nobel prize-winning chemist Dr. Kary Mullis, to news correspondent Soledad O’Brien. Even live in Hansen Leadership Hall along with fellow leaders and colleagues as eager to challenge themselves as you are…to excel, to achieve, to lead, to make a difference.
