Despite out-shooting Dordt College 27-7, the men's soccer team needed overtime to come away with a 2-1 victory over the Defenders in Sioux Center, Iowa. The win was the fifth straight for Doane and the Tigers improved to 2-0 overall in the GPAC. Dordt took the lead in the first half on a goal from Phil Nywening. It wasn't until the 77th minute when the Tigers tied the game when Sean Dougherty (Fr.; Omaha, Neb.) found Andrew Moore (So.; Omaha, Neb.) and Moore placed the ball in the back of the net.
Six minutes into overtime, Chris Hedgecock (Sr.; North Platte, Neb.) received a pass from Devon Strecker (Fr.; Omaha, Neb.) and beat the Defender goalkeeper for the game-winning goal.
Chris Kavinsky (Jr.; Englewood, Colo.) collected three saves in goal for the Tigers. Brian Verwolf picked up 13 for Dordt.
