Tigers Finishes 13th at Les Dukes Invite

The Doane women's cross country squad opened the 2008 season with a 13th place finish at the Les Duke Invitational held in Grinnell, Iowa, on Saturday morning.  The Tigers finished with 362 points while Wartburg took the team title with 104 points.

Doane was led on the day by Tiffany Bence (Sr.; Omaha, Neb.) and her 27th place finish.  Bence ran a time of 24:15 on the 5K course.

Viviana Arreola (Jr.; El Paso, Tex.) finished 62nd overall with a time of 25:07.  Clare Hoarty (Sr.; Grafton, Neb.) finished with a time of 25:13 and placed 68th.

Yadira Salazar (Jr.; El Paso, Tex.) made her return to the squad with a 77th place finish and a time of 25:25.  She was a member of the team her freshman year and did not participate in cross country her sophomore year while taking classes at UTEP.

Alex Conrin (Jr.; Plattsmouth, Neb.) rounded out the Tigers' top five with a 156th place finish and time of 26:47.

Rounding out the top seven for Doane were Marysol Cazares (So.; El Paso, Tex.) who ran a time of 27:53, finishing 214th, and Aprill Bodlak (Fr.; Emerson, Neb.) who finished 245th with a time of 28:37.

Amanda Woodward (So.; Kearney, Neb.) rounded out the Tiger participants with a 252nd place finish and time of 28:53.

In all, 24 teams and 328 athletes participated in the meet.

Up Next:
The Tigers will travel to Lincoln to participate in the Woody Greeno Invitational, hosted by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.  The meet will take place at Pioneer Park on September 20.
