The women's soccer team battled with Warner Pacific College (Ore.) for 78 scoreless minutes of play before Jordan Hedgecock put the ball in the back of the net for the first goal of a 2-0 win on Monday afternoon. Hedgecock received a pass from Samantha Exstrom off a corner kick and beat the Knights' goalkeeper Kelsey Bishop for her first goal of the year which proved to be the game-winner. Hedgecock also recorded the first game-winning goal last year.
Samantha Exstrom notched a goal shortly following a red card issued to Warner Pacific's Devan Wellington. Exstrom scored her goal from the right side of the box. She now has two on the season.
Alicia Exstrom led the way in net, picking up the shutout with five saves.
Doane and Warner Pacific finished with very similar statistics as each team had 14 shot attempts. WPC had five shots on goal while Doane posted six. The Tigers were called for seven fouls compared to the Knights' five fouls. The Knights received a yellow card issued to the team in addition to Wellington's red card.
