Doane College Appoints New Director of Grand Island Campus

Article Body

Jennifer Worthington has been named director of the Doane College campus in Grand Island effective August 4.

Worthington will replace current director Randy Blair, who will continue in his role as College Park executive director.

Worthington is a familiar face in Grand Island, having worked extensively in the non-profit arena for over 20 years.  Since 1999, she has served as executive director of the Hall County Leadership Unlimited, Inc.  Worthington guided all aspects of organizational management including fund raising, finance and public relations in support of their mission to educate and inspire participants to take on leadership roles in the community.

Her career includes eight years as the executive director of the American Red Cross and five years as the program director of the YWCA.  She currently serves as a member of the Grand Island Public Schools Board of Education and Stuhr Museum Foundation Board.

Worthington's professional successes demonstrate her concern for mentoring and educating future leaders - a tradition that will continue in her new role.

"I was not looking for another position.  I was contacted by a friend who thought it sounded ideal for me, and then I became excited about the prospect of using my skills to help grow Doane's campus in Grand Island," said Worthington.

College Park was created to bring four-year degree and graduate programs, as well as lifelong learning opportunities to south central Nebraska residents. Doane began offering Grand Island area courses for its Master of Education degree in 1992.  Doane opened its Grand Island campus in College Park in 2003.

Worthington's community involvement and professional relationships will also support Doane's long-term success. "We are delighted to have Jennifer Worthington as our future director in Grand Island.  She is a highly respected citizen who cares deeply about leadership and education.  Plus she understands the importance of becoming partners in the community, such as with Central Community College, in order for Doane to thrive in Grand Island," said President Jonathan Brand.
