In a tale of two similar games with different outcomes, Doane and Hastings split in GPAC action on Friday evening. Doane took game one, 11-0, in five innings before Hastings took game two, 11-1, in five innings.
Bryan Dutcher threw a near perfect game, allowing only one hit to the Broncos in the victory. Chris Williams and Tim Engelhaupt had big offensive days in the first game. Williams finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs while Engelhaupt went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and a home run. Williams was joined by Cody Shoultz with two runs scored in the game.
In game two, Hastings struck early and often as they pulled away with a victory to prevent the Tiger sweep. Doane was limited to four hits and scored their only run on an Adam Bies sacrifice fly. Evan Koetter took the loss for Doane as he allowed five runs in 2.1 innings.
