For the second time in less than two weeks, the Tigers took on No. 3 Northwestern College and put together a strong performance. However, it was not enough as Doane's season came to a close in the GPAC Quarterfinals with an 80-70 loss to the Red Raiders. The loss put Doane at 17-15 overall to end the year.
A deciding factor in the loss was Northwestern shooting 51 percent in the game to Doane's 39 percent. Both teams hit 28 field goals but the Red Raiders made two more three-point baskets and eight more free throws.
Doane was led by Hannah Helman's 20 points. She was also strong defensively, helping hold GPAC Player-of-the-Year favorite Deb Remmerde to 22 points, including only four in the second half. Last time out, Remmerde topped the Tigers with 51 points. Justine Munsterman and Nicole Anderson teamed with Helman in the defensive duties on Remmerde.
Also in double figures for the Tigers were Vanessa Munter and Jackie Knievel, each collecting 12 points, while Lindsay Anderson posted 11 points. Munter had a team-high seven rebounds.
The Tigers forced 27 Northwestern turnovers while only committing 15 of their own. Doane had 17 steals in the game, four from Munter.
