Doane College has been awarded a grant of $11,465 from the Midwest
Consortium for Service Learning in Higher Education. The funds will
continue support for service-learning projects that are student led within the community during 2008, as well as course-related activities that provide students with new types of learning experiences while serving others. Rev. Karla Cooper, project director, will consult Crete community members about their priorities and needs as part of the monthly Community Meals project sponsored through Doane's Chaplain's Office. Additional staff and faculty at Doane will be trained to organize successful projects and assist student leaders to do the same.
