Simon Field was constructed in 1929 following a generous gift from G. Eli Simon, a Cambridge, Nebraska attorney and father of a graduating senior. Lauritsen Track is named for former Doane athlete and chairman of the Board of Trustees, the late Walter Lauritsen '30 of Grand Island, Nebraska. In the summer of 2000, Doane installed FieldTurf for football and soccer games. As part of the renovation of the field, a new outdoor, polyurethane track was also installed.
