
Fuhrer was constructed in 1969, and at the time, was described as "the premier facility of its kind in the Midwest." The building encloses 55,000 square feet of space for men and women's athletics, which includes women's volleyball, men and women's basketball, and men and women's indoor track and field. It also includes a weightroom, training room, classrooms, and faculty/coaches offices. The building was named after brothers John and Earl Fuhrer.
Fuhrer Field House Renovation
The proposed Fuhrer Field House renovation is one component of the Legendary Coaches Campaign. Created to honor legendary coaches Fred Biele, Al Papik '50 and the late Bob Erickson '57, the Legendary Coaches Campaign seeks to raise $5.7 million to expand Fuhrer, improve our football facilities, and complete the Haddix Recreation and Athletic Center. The Fuhrer Field House renovation project includes:
- The addition of 20,694 sq. ft that will create a 79,572 sq. ft. facility
- A 200-meter indoor track
- Four courts that will be available for various sports and recreational use
- New lobby and concessions area
- Renovated bathroom facilities
- A large meeting room
- Updates to the existing classroom and office spaces
