Midwest Institute (ESL)

The Midwest Institute for International Studies (MIIS) is an intensive English language program for international students. Our program consists of six levels from beginning to advanced. Each level has four classes: grammar, writing, reading, and listening/conversation. These classes meet four hours each day Monday through Friday.

Students in Levels 5 & 6 also prepare for the TOEFL test. In addition, they also study skills needed for college and university studies. For example, students learn how to find information, how to write research papers and do word processing, and how to give presentations. Students also learn how to use the Internet and computers. Students who complete our program do not need a TOEFL test score if they attend Doane College. However, students must apply for admission to Doane College.
