David Osterhout: 1916-2007
With over 70-year ties to the college, David Osterhout was affectionately known by many as "Mr. Doane." He spent his childhood across the street from Doane, his family often attending athletic events. He spent much of his career in Doane administration, in fact, holding the record for longest service and most offices held. He spent much of his retirement years in Doane Village.
Katherine Buell: 1912-2007
Stories about the trepidation Dr. Katherine Buell inspired in students are legendary, even 27 years after teaching her last class at Doane. But students might have been less fearful if they had recognized what they feared for what it was. A fierce intelligence. High expectations. A passion for knowledge and the beauty of science and living things.
