Step 1: Applying for Admission

Undergraduate Application Section Step-by-Step

Doane is authorized under federal law to enroll non-immigrant alien students.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Doane College recognizes the importance of maintaining F-1 student status under SEVIS.  An international student who does not have legal immigration status (i.e. out of status) under the law [INA ss 237 (a) (1) (c) (i)] can neither enroll nor remain enrolled at Doane College.  

Step 1: Complete the Doane College application form

Step 2: Present official, original, verified copies of all school records (secondary and post secondary transcripts).  All international transcripts, including those from English-speaking nations, must be verified and submitted to Doane through one of the services listed.

Step 3: Submit one letter of recommendation from someone familiar with your academic work and your potential for college level coursework.

Step 4: For all applicants whose native language is not English, or whose primary language of instruction was not English, you must also complete the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS exam (International English Language Testing System) and make arrangements to have the testing services send your official score report directly to Doane.

Doane's minimum score requirements for undergraduate students is:

  • TOEFL paper based: 525 (Doane's TOEFL code is 6165)
  • TOEFL computer based: 196
  • TOEFL IBT: 70 with a minimum in each section:
    • 16 reading (minimum)
    • 16 listening (minimum)
    • 12 speaking (minimum)
    • 14 writing (minimum)
  • IELTS: 5.5

Step 5: For scholarship consideration, complete the SAT or ACT and make arrangements to have your official score report sent to Doane College.

- SAT: Doane's SAT code is 6165

- ACT: Doane's ACT code is 2448                      

Step 6: Present proof of financial responsibility. A form will be emailed to you after we review your eligibility for scholarships.

Step 7: Pay a $100 application fee through one of the approved payment methods.

Step 8: Once you have completed the first seven steps, Doane may issue your certificate of eligibility (Form I-20).

All costs for tuition, fees, and books must be paid in full at the beginning of each term. Once you have been accepted to the undergraduate program as a full-time, degree seeking student, you must submit a deposit of $9,210.00 and proof of health insurance.

The deposit is to cover part of the costs associated with tuition, fees, room and board, books and other personal expenses.  All students must carry health insurance which meets or exceeds Doane's minimum coverage requirements.
