Athletic Department

Doane offers 18 intercollegiate sports for both men and women. Doane holds membership in the National Association of Intercolleciate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC).

Athletic Facts

Honors:

  • Track and Field & Cross Country have had 63 NAIA and NCAA National Champions
  • Cross Country received the National NAIA Cross Country Academic Team Championship in 1994, 95 and 2001
  • Baseball and Softball combined has had 112 All-Conference Awards since 1995.
  • Men's Basketball has won six conference championships.
  • In 14 years, the women's basketball team has had a 20+ win season 10 times, and a 30+ win season three times.
  • Volleyball achieved four Conference Champion titles.

Facilities:

  • Fuhrer Field House completed a $1.6 million renovation in 1995
  • The Jim Dutcher Fitness Center, a 4,000 square-foot facility, was completed in 1997
  • Memorial Stadium was dedicated in 1948. Simon Field and Lauritsen Track are features of the stadium
  • Simon Field, was constructed in 1929. The field is used by the college and community for numerous football and soccer games throughout the year.

  • Mascot: Thomas the Tiger. Named after Thomas Doane, the founder
