Doane faced their second straight opponent ranked in the Top 10 on Saturday morning of the Red Raider Classic, and unfortunately for Doane the result was the same, a loss. Doane fell to No. 10 Taylor University, 3-1. Game scores were 25-20, 27-25, 23-25, 25-16. Doane had a chance to even the match in the second game, as they had game point. The Trojans were able to fight off the point and eventually come away with a win. Doane bounced back to take game three but ran out of energy in trying to overcome a nine point deficit in game four. The Tigers trailed 18-9 in game four but ran off seven points to pull within two at 18-16, however, the Trojans took the final seven points.
Doane hit .208 as they recorded 54 kills on 168 attacks. Terra Andreasen led the way for Doane with 16 kills. Susan Rollman followed with 13 kills and Ashley Axmann added 11 kills. Heather Davison led with 43 set assists. Andreasen recorded five ace serves as Doane posted eight ace serves in the match.
Nikki Degenhardt posted 21 digs for the Tigers while Andreason and Nicole Skolnick recorded 16 and 12, respectively. Susan Rollman recorded two solo blocks and one assist block while Andreasen, Kellie Peterson, and Emily Max all recorded one assist block.
For Taylor, Kelsey Pritchard had a game-high 21 kills. She was followed by Rachel Kizer with 16 kills and Ashley Pickering with 14 kills. Kizer and Ashley DeHoogh each posted eight assist blocks while Pickering and Jackie Geile recorded six blocks apiece.
