The Great Plains Athletic Conference released the 2010 Softball All-GPAC teams for the past season and five Tiger athletes received recognized. Whitney Poole received First Team All-GPAC honors for the second straight year. Poole, a senior from Holtville, Ala. (Waverly HS, Neb.), posted the second highest total in stolen bases for a single season at Doane with 43. She finished her career at the top of the charts in runs scored and stolen bases while finishing one hit shy of tying the school record.
Brooke Sampson earned Second Team All-GPAC honors for the Tigers. Sampson, a freshman from Bakersfield, Calif., set a new mark in home runs for a single season with nine this year. She led the team with a .383 batting average, 23 extra-base hits and tied for team-high honors with 32 RBIs.
Kayla Hochstein, a senior from Wayne, Neb., received honorable mention honors. Hochstein was second on the team with a .349 batting average and finished with 16 RBIs.
Hannah Kroese, a senior from Firth, Neb., was an honorable mention recipient after hitting .301 the past year and posting a team-best 87 defensive assists. She led the team with three triples and had 12 extra-base hits on the season.
Christy Kobza, a junior from Lincoln, Neb., received honorable mention recognition after tying for the team lead with 32 RBIs. She hit .324 with seven doubles on the year.
