Doane split with Sioux Falls in softball on Saturday afternoon and in the process they clinched a spot in the GPAC Tournament. Doane came from behind in both games but were unable to hold on for both wins. The Tigers took game one, 6-5, but lost game two, 6-5.

Game One
Doane scored two runs in the first inning but would have to rally in the seventh inning to record the win in the first game.

Whitney Poole led off the game with a single and stole second base. Poole moved to third on a wild pitch. Deidre Cardoza was hit by a pitch and stole second to give the Tigers a pair of runners in scoring position for Christy Kobza. Kobza delivered a single to score the first run of the game for the Tigers. She then stole second base to give Doane two runners in scoring position once again.

Brooke Sampson walked to load the bases and with Jennifer Montoya at the plate, Cardoza came in to score on a wild pitch and Kobza moved to third. Sampson stole second for the fourth stolen base of the inning for the Tigers. However, a pair of strikeouts and a pop out ended the Tiger inning.

Sioux Falls came back in the bottom of the first to plate a pair of runs to tie the game. The Cougars scored their runs as they used four hits. In the third, the Coo added two more runs on three hits.

Doane scored a run in the fifth to cut the lead to 4-3. Sampson doubled with one out and came around to score on a double by Amber Stater with two down in the inning.

Sioux Falls had an answer in the bottom of the inning, scoring a run on two hits to retake a two-run advantage, 5-3.

Trailing by two runs in the seventh, Montoya reached on an error and Stater walked to put the tying runs on base. Hannah Kroese reached on a fielder's choice as Montoya was forced out at third base. Jennifer Liddell struck out for the second out of the inning.

Kayla Hochstein turned on the wheels as she laced a shot into right field. The right fielder was unable to make a diving catch and Stater and Kroese came around to score to tie the game but Hochstein wasn't holding up with a triple. She rounded third and avoided a potential tag up the third base line and scored the go-ahead run on an inside-the-park home run.

Liddell shut down Sioux Falls in the seventh for the win. She finished the game throwing three innings and allowing one run on three hits.

At the plate, Doane finished with 12 hits. Four Tigers finished with two hits.

The Tigers tied the game in the top of the second. Amber Stater doubled with one out and scored on a single by Jennifer Liddell.

The Cougars came back with a run in the bottom of the second to take a 3-2 lead. A lead-off walk followed by two wild pitches put a runner at third to start the inning. An error led to an unearned run.

In the fourth, Sioux Falls added a run to take a 4-2 lead. Doane came back with a run in the fifth. Brooke Sampson doubled and scored on a single by Gina Falciani.
