Tigers Fall in Regular Season-Finale

The Tiger men's tennis team concluded the regular season on Sunday with a 6-3 loss to the University of Sioux Falls. Doane lost two tight matches that proved to be the difference in the match.

In doubles action, Ross Schulenberg and Josh Siske missed out on a perfect conference season with a 9-7 loss to Juan Carlos Mata and Borjan Jaksic. Schulenberg and Siske finished the conference season with a 6-1 record. At No. 2 doubles, Josh Johnson and Tony Bieck lost to Codie Schmeichel and AJ DeLange, 8-3. Aaron Haag and Tanner Vitko dropped their match to Nate Woodward and Daniel Terveen, 8-1.

Doane split the six singles matches. Schulenberg defeated Mata at No. 1 singles, 6-0, 6-1. Siske topped Nolan Wiese, 8-6, at No. 2 singles. Johnson won at No. 3 singles, 8-2, over Schmeichel.

Bieck dropped his No. 4 singles match to DeLange, 6-1, 6-3. Haag fell to Woodward at No. 5 singles, 6-4, 6-2. Vitko dropped a close match, 9-7, to Connor Shefte.

Next up for the Tigers will be the GPAC Tournament on May 7 in Fremont.  Doane will make their first appearance in the post-season since 2006.
