Dexter Spitsnogle may not have been perfect on Sunday afternoon but it was good enough as the Tiger junior threw a no-hitter against Ashford University. The first no-no for the Tigers since the GPAC formed, Spitsnogle allowed three walks and hit two batters while striking out five in a 4-0 win. Spitsnogle received early run support as Doane posted two runs in the first inning. Luke Henderson reached on an error and was pinch ran for by Colt Cochran. Anthony Hincy singled to move Cochran up a bag. Tom Frinkman walked to load the bases for Jason West. West followed with a single to plate Cochran and Hincy to give Doane a 2-0 lead.
In the fourth, West led off with a double and came around to score when Josh Reed reached on an error.
The final Tiger run came in the sixth as Reed led off with a single. Following a sacrifice bunt, Mike Albert delivered a double to score Reed for the final run of the game.
Doane finished with nine hits in the game, led by West as he went 3-for-3 with a run and two RBIs. Blake Snow went 2-for-3 for the Tigers.
Spitsnogle picked up the win and improved to 2-0 on the year as Doane moved to 5-2 overall.
