The Doane men's tennis team was tripped up in a tough-fought match with Oklahoma Wesleyan University on Friday afternoon in Lincoln, 5-4. The two teams split the singles matches but OWU was able to take two of the three doubles matches. In singles action, Ross Schulenberg picked up his first singles win as a Tiger, defeating Walter Hoyos, 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1. Josh Siske kept his singles win streak going, extending it to three straight after defeating Casey Roberts, 6-4, 6-0 at No. 2. Josh Johnson fell at No. 3 to Jemail Cheatham, 2-6, 1-6.
Jake Zlatkovskey was defeated at No. 4 by Joe Denthrage, 3-6, 1-6. Tony Bieck won in a tie-breaker at No. 5 singles over Jarrett Denthrage, 1-6, 7-6 (11-9), 1-0 (10-8). Aaron Haag lost at No. 6 to David Dunn, 2-6, 4-6.
In doubles action, Schulenberg and Siske won 8-2 over Roberts and Cheatham. Bieck and Johnson fell at No. 2 doubles to the Denthrage duo, 2-8. Zlatkovsky and Haag lost a close battle at No. 3 to Hoyos and Dunn, 7-9.
