The Doane men's basketball team saw their season come to an end on Thursday evening in the GPAC Quarterfinals in Mitchell, S.D. Dakota Wesleyan held off the Tigers, 73-58. Doane ends the season with a 7-21 overall record. Dakota Wesleyan controlled from the start, scoring the first 12 points of the game and building a 21-5 lead. Doane was able to cut the lead down to 39-27 at halftime.
In the second half, Trent Schlautman opened with a three-point basket but the Tigers could not get any closer. Dakota Wesleyan eventually built their largest lead of 18 points in the latter portion of the half.
Doane received 15 points from Zach Moult. Schlautman was joined by Austin Benson and Jake Ryba with eight points apiece. Jens Scholl led the Tigers with five rebounds. Brett McFarland and Schlautman posted two steals each while Tyler Cyboron and Ryba collected two offensive rebounds apiece as Doane finished with 15 offensive rebounds.
Preston Broughton posted a game-high 20 points and Brady Wiebe finished with 17 points and 14 rebounds for Dakota Wesleyan.
