Doane Ends Season in GPAC Quarters

The Tiger men's basketball team saw their season come to an end on Thursday evening in the Quarterfinals of the GPAC Tournament as they fell to Dakota Wesleyan University. The conference regular season champions defeated Doane, 73-58.

Dakota Wesleyan set the tone early as they jumped out to a 21-5 lead through 7:18 of play, including a 12-0 start to the game. Doane was able to keep DWU in sight, trailing by 12 points at halftime, 39-27.

The Tigers started the second half on a good note as Trent Schlautman opened the half by hitting a three-point basket. DWU responded with five straight points to build the lead back to 14. Doane was able to pull within 10 points on one occasion but late in the half, Dakota Wesleyan started to pull away.

Dakota Wesleyan controlled the paint, out-scoring Doane 48-20. Preston Broughton led the Tigers in blue with 20 points while Brady Wiebe added 17 points and 14 rebounds.

Doane finished the season at 7-21. Zach Moult finished with a team-high 15 points. Schlautman was joined by Austin Benson and Jake Ryba with eight points apiece. Jens Scholl posted five rebounds to lead the Tigers. Brett McFarland and Bryan Meyer finished with two steals apiece. Tyler Cyboron and Ryba led the team with two offensive rebounds each.
