The Doane women's basketball dropped a tough contest to Dordt College on Saturday afternoon, 66-52, and will now head on the road for the GPAC Tournament. It marks the first time since the GPAC went to a 12-team tournament that the Tigers will open on the road. Doane held an early seven point lead but the Defenders closed the half on a 24-12 run. Dordt then went on a 29-16 run to open the second half as built their largest lead of the game, 57-39. Doane battled back to cut the lead to 11 but could not get any closer as they fell in the end by 14 points.
Doane received 18 points and nine rebounds from Vanessa Munter. Nicole Skolnick added eight points and a game-high 13 rebounds. Brittany Lurz led the team with three steals.
Dordt received 27 points from Amber Soodsma. Kate Du Mez added 17 points and four assists. Julia DeKoekkoek finished with 13 points and a team-high six rebounds.
Doane will travel to Sioux Falls on Tuesday, February 23, to take on the Cougars in a 7:00 PM contest to open the GPAC Tournament.
